Lexie’s story of empowerment:
I grew up in small town Montana and began running competitively at an early age. The Timberette program became a model for girls track and field in the state. It was a girls only program and contributed to my high school success as it revealed to me that I had some skills in running and jumping. The group of girls I started with at 8 years of age became three times Montana State Champions in girls’ track and field. I became an Oregon Duck and continued to succeed. If as a Timberette and Bravette I learned that I could do it then my years as a Duck showed me how to continue doing it, making me the best I could be.
What do you want for women everywhere?
I want all girls to be given the opportunity to experience sports. And not just one. They should be encouraged to try many!
